Bloodlust, Curse, Blind, Armageddon, Berserk, Frenzy and Slayer are all fairly potent and strong spells that can change the outcome of a battle. Blind and Armageddon are almost just as good without Fire Magic. And yeah you have a point of Fire Magic not being instantly rewarding. Bloodlust is okay, but I prefer Bless.

All creatures in a 3 hex radius affected. Berserk is a 4 level spell in the School of Fire Magic. It is a mind spell that makes the target attack the nearest troop whether it is an ally or enemy. This also includes war machines. If the creature cannot attack anyone, the spell expires after 255 turns. AI cannot cast this spell (fixed in HotA).
Both flight and teleportation appear to avoid all obstacles in their way, including terrain doodads, magical spells, and other creatures. Teleport also still has a range limited by the unit's speed, just as with the other two movement types, preventing Devils from being able to teleport across the entire battlefield without limit.

New to HoMM, should I start with 3 or 5? I've enjoyed King's Bounty and Disciples II, but for some reason never got around to playing HoMM. After doing some research, it seems that most fans agree HoMM3 is the best in the series, and HoMM5 is similar and a good game also.
HoMM 1. I've only played a beta from Might & Magic Heroes 6, but from what I seen I think it's worse that HoMM 5. HoMM 1 it's a much simplified HoMM 2. The same cartoonish graphics, but only 4 towns/races: Knight, Barbarian, Sorceress and Warlock. Only primary skills (Attack, Defense, Power Spell and Knowledge).
I know this is old but I've been playing HoMM since 2. I loved 2, 3, 5, and I really enjoy 6. Between 5 and 6 I'd have to say I think 6 is better - I like the abilities and having better stuff for Might heroes. ErroneousBosch. I literally just posted a Steam review today. Uinstalled after 4 hour of playing and wish I had saved my $10.
